It is always hard to name the top players in any sport and the debates never end and people are always rooting for their beloved player. Still, let’s name some of the best rugby players who made the sport beautiful, according to rugby super league betting statistics:
Jonah Lomu
The Kiwi player holds a record 15 tries at the World Cups. Unfortunately, what Jonah is missing is a World Cup title. He was an All Blacks player in the period between 1994 and 2002 and is commonly seen as the first rugby superstar.
Richie McCaw
Another Kiwi, Richie is a born leader and has been a captain of the All Blacks in 110 matches. McCaw has led the All Blacks into winning two World Cups, first in 2011 and the second in 2015. Consequently, Richie was crowned the best player in 2006, 2009, and 2010.
David Campese
David played 101 games for the Wallabies and was named the best rugby player of the 1991 Rugby World Cup. Being considered one of the best fullback and winger players in history, David invented the famous “goose-step” motion in avoiding tackles.
Brian O’Driscoll
He is an Irish legend. Brian led a small Irish team Leinster into the European elite. He is still seen as one of the best rugby centres of all time. His fans wear t-shirts with “In BOD We Trust”. O’Driscoll was Ireland’s captain from 2003 to 2012 and is all-time scorer in Irish Rugby and the 8th internationally.
Dan Carter
Dan is a legend and the best test scorer with 1442 points scored during his 100 games for the All Blacks whom he led to a 2011 World Cup title. With his Crusaders, he won four Super Rugby titles and scored 1581 points. He was selected as the player of the year by the IRB in 2005 and 2012 and as the super rugby player of the year in 2004 and 2006 by the Rebel Sport.
