Football Betting Sites

In the world of sports betting, it doesn’t get any bigger than football. The beautiful game is followed by hundreds of millions, and the level of betting generated by football is truly mind-blowing; and essentially, it’s an all-year-round endeavour, especially if there happens to be a major tournament taking place over the summer (or winter, this time around).

Best Football Betting Sites

There are countless sports betting sites out there and, frankly, dozens that are of very high quality, but if you’re predominantly interested in placing bets on football, then you’ll want to sign up with a bookmaker that is perfect for your needs. A list of online bookmakers is great, but a list of ones that are specifically football-focused that’s even better.

No two sports betting sites are the same, and that’s doubly true when it comes to finding a bookmaker that offers the most competitive odds and provides more than its fair share of bonuses and promotions and not just for new users but also for loyal customers who bet regularly.

Football Betting Sites: How to Find The Best

If you are looking for a great football betting site, how do you know what to check for and where to look for them? If you aren’t entirely clued in, you may end up finding a dud or one that not only offers poor odds but also takes an age to complete a payout.

To help you find the top online football betting sites, we’ve lined up a number of key factors that should be uppermost in your mind as you peruse the options out there.

  • Reputation
  • Size of Betting Market
  • Competitive Odds
  • Quality of the Site/App Interface
  • Special Features
  • Customer Service
  • Payment Methods

Reputation

You can take reputation to mean a number of things, and for most people, it’s about being trustworthy, not least when we are talking about sports betting or online casino action, and that’s part of what to look out for. However, reputation also means more. A number of the best brands in the business are household names, and that doesn’t come easily.

With these larger brands, reputation is almost a given, but that doesn’t mean they have a free pass. There are sports betting brands that are very established that may still drop the ball once too often, and therefore it’s always good to read recent reviews to see just how things are panning out.

Size of Betting Market

A good sports betting site offers a wide range of football leagues and games to bet on, and a great one has it all. If you are a true sports betting aficionado, then you may well dip into some truly obscure football leagues, either because your knowledge runs deep or because you find bets that are seriously tempting.

Therefore a sports brand worth your attention has to be one that covers every game imaginable and offers a wide range of betting options in each of them and not just in the high-profile matches; after all, any sports bookmaker can offer odds and markets in the top Premier League clashes, and those that offer more depth are the ones to consider when it comes to joining a new bookmaker.

Competitive Odds

We’ve all been there. We place a bet, and we win! Only then do we find, either by accident or from other bettors, that your payout is far less than it could have been. Some of the biggest bookmakers in the business can be fairly cheap when it comes to the odds they offer, often playing it safe so as to avoid being hammered.

However, you’d do well to check and compare specific matches to get an idea of which bookmaker actually offers the better, more competitive odds, as this is a crucial part of your football betting activity.

Quality of Site/App Interface

Now when it comes to placing your bet on football, you want to be able to do so via a site or app that is simple, smooth, speedy and effective. You don’t want to be greeted with an interface that is outdated, glitchy and brain numbingly designed.

In 2023 the key element here is the mobile interface. A huge proportion of football bets are now placed via mobile devices, and any brand worth its salt has an app that is, at worst, capable and, at best, ahead of the curve.

Here you are looking for an app that offers the same markets as on desktop as well as an easy-to-use user experience that makes betting via mobile fun and efficient.

Special Features

Consider these a bookmaker’s potential USP (unique selling point). While a solid, if not spectacular, sports betting site may do all the main things in a decent fashion, it may be the special features that they offer that become key.

Think, for instance, if the brand in question offers live streaming or if they have a good cash-out option. Maybe you can even request a bet. Check our reviews of the brand, such as the ones here on Profit Squad, and see if they score well in this department.

Check out football betting reviews to ascertain if a bookmaker offers interesting extras that have captured the attention of your fellow sports bettors.

Customer Service

Not enough online football betting users pay attention to the customer service of a bookmaker they are about to join, and this is a real mistake. While it’s true you won’t necessarily have to deal with these guys often, you can be sure that when you do, it’s often a very pressing and important matter.

Make sure the bookmaker you join has a strong reputation in this area and offers a wide range of contact methods, from live chat all the way through to phone and email options.

Payment Methods

Gone are the days of only a couple of options in terms of payment methods. The more progressive bookmakers will offer a raft of choices here; after all, they want to make getting to your money as easy as possible.

You might want to use an e-Wallet service like Paypal or even Bitcoin, and the reasons for wanting to do so are manifold. They may be driven by a need for privacy or for security concerns, so make sure your bookmaker gives a wide range of payment methods, and obviously the ones that are most relevant to your needs.

UK Football Betting Sites - How We Review and Rank The Best

What goes into a Profit Squad betting site review? A great deal of hard work and research is undertaken by our expert team. The result of which is a genuinely honest review of what a particular bookmaker has to offer.

Our reviews cover all the major bookmakers as well as a host of other players in the field, including some that you may not be overly familiar with but nonetheless more than capable of offering the best football bets.

Football Betting Sites - A Guide to Help You Sign-Up

Want to know how to sign-up with a football betting site? Look no further; here is a simple and easy-to-follow step-by-step guide that should put your mind at ease and take you one step closer to joining a reputable bookmaker ahead of your footballing betting adventure.

The process of signing up for a bookmaker, especially with new football betting sites, is deliberately simple. It usually includes very few steps, including the following.

  • Provide relevant details
  • Create Your Account
  • Make Your Initial Deposit

Providing Relevant Details

The details required by most UK bookmakers are the same and include your full name, postal address and other very basic information.

Create Your Account

Here you’ll come up with a username and password and may also be asked to provide information relating to a security question. This is to help add a further layer of protection for you and your account.

Make Your Initial Deposit

Finally, you’ll need to make an initial deposit and provide the information relevant to the payment method you choose to use.  At this point, you may also want to make use of any relevant promotional codes you have acquired.

Once these steps are complete, there may be a verification process, and then your account will be open, and you are then ready to bet on football

Football Betting Apps - What Makes a Good Online Betting App?

A good football betting app is one that covers most, perhaps even all, the factors we’ve laid out, and you should never rush into signing up with the first bookmaker that seems to fit the bill.

Take your time to find the best option when it comes to betting on football, as that may well dictate not just your level of enjoyment but also the financial rewards you may earn from the first day you join.

Football Betting Bonuses & Promotions: What Are They and Why it Matters

The ever-increasing number of bookmakers out there has led to an environment that is infinitely more attractive to players than in the past. As each sports betting brand looks to get your custom, they’ve come up with clever ways to both entice you as well as keep you for the long-term.

They most commonly do this via bonuses and promotions, and here are some of the most common types of football betting signup offers and other great bonus offers.

  • Free Bets
  • Odds Boosts
  • Welcome Bonuses
  • Deposit Bonuses
  • Money Back Offers

Free Bets

These are often offered as a way to encourage you to sign up with a brand and are most frequently in association with a specific game. Indeed the free bet in question might be one that seems like it can’t possibly fail. The free bet might, for instance, be on Liverpool to beat a third-tier side in an FA Cup clash; however, the devil is in the detail here.

Usually, the free bet offered will pay out, if it wins, in the form of free bet bonuses that can only be used to place again on another bet; this might have to happen a number of times before any real money has been added to your account. You’ve been warned. Though the best free bet offers are genuinely worthwhile, a greater number often do not amount to much in the long run.

Odds Boosts

An odds boost will offer you improved odds on an eventuality, usually far and above the existing odds, and leading you to place the relevant bet. As with the free bets above, the winnings may not come in the form of actual money, and you may have to play through a number of times.

Welcome Bonuses and Deposit Bonuses

With these types of bonuses, you are offered enticements to join a specific bookmaker. A welcome bonus may offer you a certain amount of money that is added to your account the moment you join (but again, this won’t usually be available for you to cash out).

A deposit bonus might look to match your initial deposit. So your first deposit may be £10, and the provider will add another £10 to your account. This is one of the more attractive bonuses offered by bookmakers as there aren’t always strings attached.

Money Back Offers

A money-back offer is usually an option that offers you some level of risk-free betting or an inducement of some kind. For instance, a bookmaker might offer a money-back offer if a certain game ends in a draw. If you are an existing customer, then a bookmaker may offer a money-back option after you lose a number of bets; it’s their way of showing you that they reward frequent bettors.

Football Betting Markets

  • Match Outcome
  • Correct Score
  • Half-time/Full-Time
  • BTTS
  • First Goalscorer
  • Over/Under Bets
  • Specials

Match Outcome

Here, as the name suggests, you are betting on the match outcome. This is, on the whole, a three-horse race between the home team, the away team and a draw.

It’s the most popular form of betting and keeps things very simple. Obviously, the range of odds available is vast and is entirely based on the quality of the teams in question.

Correct Score

Here you are betting on the final score of the game. Common scores, such as narrow wins like 1-0, 2-1, will secure you moderate odds, and if you chase complex final results like high scoring draws of thumping victories, then your winnings will be far higher.

However, don’t simply bet on these scores for the sake of the potentially lucrative sum you might win; base your selection on form primarily but also take into other factors such as the likely starting line-up and past results.

Half-Time/Full Time

Here you predict what the outcome will be at both half-time and full-time. The big bets to chase here are those where the outcome switches entirely. In other words, a team is ahead when the ref blows the half-time whistle but has somehow contrived to lose by the time the game comes to a close.

BTTS

BTTS, or both teams to score, is a bet that predicts that both teams will score during the game. It doesn’t matter how many each team scores or, indeed, when they do so, they just need to find the net. These bets work well when you are hoping that a game you are watching is an exciting one or perhaps if both teams have poor defences.

First Goalscorer

Goalscorer bets have come a long way. Initially, you would most often bet just on the first goalscorer in a game, but you can now back any particular player to score at some point or indeed a combined first goalscorer and scorecast bet.

However, the first goalscorer bet is still the most popular among these types. As with all other types of betting on football, you have to make a decision about whether you are backing likelihood or actually trusting to hope and luck.

You can back a prolific forward, at reduced odds, or go all-in on a marauding full-back or a centre-back who may smash in a header from a corner. The choice is yours!

Over/Under Bets

Over/Under bets relate to the frequency of an event in a match occurring as well as possible bets on leagues. A bookmaker offers a range of options, for instance, the number of goals that will be scored in a game, and you can pick accordingly.

For instance, if you think there will be a goal-fest, you might back the Over option at the odds offered at 4.5 goals. An Over/Under might be applied to the number of points a team might win the league by. There are many possible markets that offer this form of betting.

Specials

Specials betting, as the name suggests, often relates to odd and eccentric bets as well as very timely ones. These sit outside the remit of the other types of betting we’ve mentioned and could cover just about anything. In American sports betting, these are often called prop bets.

Good quality football betting sites will offer many of these as a way to show their customers that they are forward-thinking and open to such forms of betting. An example, especially in relation to the summer transfer window, might offer a list of possible clubs that a player may end up signing.

As regards specific games, you might find specials bets that are very specific; maybe you’d be offered a potential bet on a returning player missing a penalty or even on an individual player ending the game in tears. In recent years the market in these bets has increased substantially.

Football Live Streaming

Many of the best football betting sites have moved into the streaming market, offering live coverage of matches that are offered to signed-up users. This is a clever way of attracting customers as well as helping to boost the betting markets in the leagues they offer live streaming for.

This is ideal for those of us who enjoy live in-play betting, which offers users the chance to bet on football as it’s happening. Online football betting sites that combine these two aspects are very much catering for a growing need.

In-play live betting is growing more and more popular, especially as more and more matches are shown live, be that on live streaming services of the TV channels that show the games on a near daily basis.

Football Betting Strategy and Tips

You can usually separate those who dabble in football bets into three camps. One camp is populated by those who like a regular wager but don’t venture too far from their own team; a second camp is for those who may not even have more than a passing interest in football but back the big games and tournaments, the third camp is reserved for those who take a keen interest in all things football betting related.

It’s those in the third camp that would commonly peruse UK football betting tips in order to get as much key information. They do so in order to maximise their chances of success and may also follow a more long-term approach to their football betting strategy.

Profit Squad is the ideal home for those of you who live in this camp. Our tips are well thought out and backed by expert knowledge of the game. We outline our chosen tips and the reasons for them, offering you much-needed input and wisdom ahead of your football bets.

Biggest Football Tournaments

The number of football tournaments to get your teeth into with regards to placing your football bets is nearly limitless. There are some leagues that are more important and popular than others, but every league will attract interest, chiefly because football fans come in all shapes and sizes and nothing beats betting on your team, especially if they win.

The English Premier League is some way ahead of the competition when it comes to big football betting hubs, and the Championship, as well as the entire English Football League, also sees a lot of action. The Champions League is backed from all corners of the globe, and of course, the World Cup is the mother of all tournaments and sees a hefty amount of football bets because of this.

If you fancy yourself as something of a football expert, then you may well look to ‘lesser’ and more obscure leagues for your betting fun. This might be because the football betting odds in these leagues and tournaments may be less restrictive and offer you the chance of a bigger payout.

It doesn’t get bigger than World Cup betting, a market that is massive because it even appeals to those who may not even be big football fans, such is the popularity of the event.

Premier League betting is huge the world over, not least because England’s top-tier is shown live in upwards of 150 territories and viewed by hundreds of millions of fans every week. The interest is so huge that some sources believe that upwards of £1 billion is bet on each game that is played, which is a stunning amount.

International betting sites are also hugely interested in Premier League action, and it’s a market that is unrivalled. Other European leagues of note include Italy’s Serie A, Spain’s La Liga, Germany’s Bundesliga, France’s Ligue One and the Scottish Premier League.

FAQ

Prior to the internet age, and still, to a lesser extent today, betting on football would take place in betting shops up and down the country. Now a huge proportion of this activity takes place online.

So when it comes to betting on football online, there is actually a far wider selection of options than you would find in your local bookie. Therefore you’d do well to switch your activities in this direction. Betting online is easier, and the best football bets today take place in this manner.

The concept of odds, in the most basic sense, is essentially a market that sets the likelihood of an event occurring. Every bookmaker offers their own specific odds on that event occurring, though often, the odds offered will be very similar and sometimes the same.

It’s then your choice as to what bets to place your money on. For instance, Manchester City may be playing against newly promoted Fulham at the Etihad Stadium, and the odds offered may look a little like this.

Man City: 1/7

Draw: 13/2

Fulham: 25/1

So if you chose to play it safe and bet on Pep Guardiola’s title-holding side to win, then a bet of £7 would earn you £1. Clearly, this isn’t the kind of bet that’s going to make you rich, but it’s what is known in football betting as a ‘banker’.  You might therefore risk a larger sum, let’s say £700, in which case you’d win £100.

A brave, some might say foolhardy, punter may choose to chase the odds or might just be a Fulham fan. They may place a £10 bet on the Cottagers, in which case they’d win £250 and, of course, get their stake back.

There is no single right answer to this question, and even if there was, it would change regularly. Some might suggest that William Hill football betting odds are among the best around or Sky Bet football odds are superior, but the search for what might be the best football betting site depends on a whole range of factors.

So with this in mind, we’d strongly suggest you check out Profit Squad’s brand reviews to get a better understanding of the best betting sites for football fans.

Sadly there are a growing number of fraudulent sports betting sites, and then there are those that may not be scams but are wholly unacceptable in terms of the way they manage their product and how they treat their customers. On the whole, we’d suggest you only stick with the sites that we review on Profit Squad, as those that we don’t cover tend to be on the other end of a spectrum that you’d do well to steer clear from.

In most leagues and nations, it’s illegal for professional footballers to bet on games they take part in or within the specific league they play within. That’s certainly the case for all the professional football leagues in the English football pyramid.

This is important for those outcome bets that occur in knockout situations. Always read the small print because typically, a bet might relate to the initial 90 minutes or even the 120 minutes when you include the extra time. Penalties will be relevant if you’ve simply bet on the overall winner of a game or who would qualify for the next round but won’t count in relation to your correct score bet.

The simple answer to this is yes, but it comes with a rather large caveat. Even the most knowledgeable and focused sports bettor won’t always win; indeed, they’ll probably more often than not lose. Be very wary about adopting an unrealistic betting strategy and only bet within your means.

BTTS is an acronym for both teams to score. It’s a very popular bet, and basically, a wager of this kind means that you are betting on both teams to score at some point within the game.

Acca is an abbreviation of accumulator. An accumulator bet, or a parlay as it’s known in the United States, is a bet made up of a series of bets. These add up, and the odds of each are accumulated, and that means if all of your bets are winners, then you’ll have accrued quite a nice payout. Some bookmakers offer Acca insurance, which can mean that you can afford to lose one or maybe more of the entire accumulator though the total odds will be lessened.

DNB stands for ‘Draw No Bet’ and simply means that the draw market is removed from the equation entirely. You then back the home or away team, and if the games end in a draw, you’ll then get your stake money back. However, you should be aware that the respective odds on the two teams are reduced, and therefore your winnings on the two eventualities are lower.

Spread betting in football relates to bets where a range is applied. As an example, the spread for the number of goals in a game may be set at between 2.5-3.0, and you’d then back the total being over or under that level. This type of betting is more common in the United States, where it’s a popular market in sports like American Football or basketball.
