Where to Bet On the Premier League

When it comes to top EPL betting sites, in other words betting brands that offer a great Premier League betting market, there are a number of factors to consider before selecting one that suits your needs.

Reputation

The number of betting providers, especially in the UK, is vast and growing at an astonishing rate, but it’s best to stick with brands that have a strong reputation. These might usually take the form of established players in the market, such as William Hill, 888, or bet365.

However, that doesn’t mean you should ignore any new option that comes along; we’d just advise you to check out the relevant reviews, especially the unbiased and genuine sports bookmaker reviews offered on Profit Squad.

Bonuses and Promotions

Sportsbooks want your custom. The best way they can secure it is to make you an enticing welcome offer. This is usually what will first attract your attention but be careful how you react to these, as often the devil is in the detail.

Read the terms and conditions before you sign up, and it’s also worth taking the time to see if the brand also regularly offers promotions and bonuses to its existing users. Far too many brands focus their efforts on pleasing new additions and not enough effort on keeping their current users happy.

Competitive Odds

We’ve all been there. You place a bet, and you win, but the joy of that is somewhat blunted by the fact that you’ve discovered that another bookmaker’s odds were much better, effectively costing you a decent sum of potential winnings.

When selecting a bookmaker to sign up with, you should run a test and check out their EPL betting lines when compared to a competitor. A good bookmaker will always be among the best when it comes to the odds they offer. Some sites may occasionally offer excellent odds on a specific match or event, but here the key is to look for an operator that is consistently well placed in this regard.

Payment Methods

This may not seem like a hugely important factor, but it can be to some. Most of the more prominent brands offer a wide range of payment methods, and that’s handy for those who wish to use more progressive payment types such as e-wallet services like Paypal.

Some may also want to select methods that process deposits and withdrawals more speedily, and you should check out what options are available before you proceed with your sign-up process.

Customer Service

Customer service is one of those aspects that seem trivial until you actually have an issue that needs resolving. The problem in question may be big or small, but either way, you want to know that you are being heard.

Some bookmakers have very capable customer service teams, offering you assistance 24/7 via numerous methods (from email to live chat facilities). Others don’t put as much effort into this area of their business, so make a point of checking out bookmaker reviews to locate those who are not pulling their weight.

How to Bet On the Premier League

Betting on the Premier League is incredibly popular and is a pastime enjoyed worldwide wherever betting is legal. As a sporting league, it is unrivalled in terms of its reach, and as such, it’s ripe for action with every sports betting provider that operates in your locality.

Types of Premier League Bets

Outright Bets

how the Premier League will look by the end of the season. For instance, you might want to back a team to win the title or for a specific team to finish in the coveted top four positions (and, in doing so, secure a seat at the Champions League table). You might also predict a team that is going to get relegated to the Championship.

Outright bets might be on a more individual level. A popular example of this would be betting on who would finish as the Premier League’s top goalscorer, earning them the prestigious Golden Boot award.

Correct Score

This is a very popular betting market and, as the name suggests, is where a bettor predicts a correct score. Here you can go all-in on an unlikely event, like a big win or defeat, or keep things more realistic with a narrow victory. The odds of any such eventuality will alter dramatically depending on the game. In other words, backing Man City to only win 1-0 at home to Bournemouth might still give you a very decent payout. The key to getting a good success rate with this type of betting is a strong knowledge of the game, and you can, of course, take advantage of our regular blogs that give you valuable information that will aid your Premier League betting strategy.

Accumulators

Arguably this is a form of betting that’s best left to the pros. Here you’ll band together a series of bets in the hopes of picking up a massive pot if all parts of your bet prove to be successful.

An accumulator can be one that spans the whole season or could be completed within 90 minutes. For instance, you may place a bet on the Premier League title winner, the top scorer and the sides that will complete the top four.

These bets then combine to bring you an excellent return on your stake. Your accumulator may just happen on one Saturday as you predict the outcome of all the Premier League matches taking place that day, once again potentially leading to a nice amount of money.

Both Teams to Score (BTTS)

This is a nice simple one and is good when it comes to competitive games between sides that are evenly matched. Here you are backing both teams to score at least one goal each, and it’s basically a way of you backing a game to be an exciting encounter.

First Player to Score

This betting market has become a huge part of game-day betting. You select the player you think will bag the first goal, and you can look to chase the money by backing an unlikely candidate.

For example, Liverpool are taking on Fulham in the opening weekend of the season. You might understandably conclude the first goal will be scored by one of Jurgen Klopp’s team. If you wanted to play it safe, you’d back Mohamed Salah, if you wanted to increase the potential winnings, you could stretch to Virgil Van Dijk, and if you were feeling very lucky, you might back Joe Gomez to net (he hasn’t done so in his 142 games for the club).

Other Bets

The number of betting types available when it comes to Premier League football is pretty much endless and changes depending on the bookmaker you are betting with. Ahead of any particular game, there are upwards of 80 potential markets.

These may include bets on how many goals would be scored in total or whether a team would have a player sent off. Sometimes the specials available might be very niche indeed, such as whether a team or player will miss a penalty during the game.

So ahead of the game of interest, check out what markets are open to you, and you may find a specific bet that takes your interest.

Premier League Betting Tips

If you are going to adopt a successful sports betting strategy and you want to know how to bet on the Premier League effectively, then you should make the most of any help you can get. Our team of experienced sports betting experts can aid you in your pursuit of a successful bet or two.

With this in mind, here are some suggestions when it comes to some of the essential Premier League sports betting markets.

Premier League Title Winner

Most bookmakers and pundits will tell you that the Premier League is a two-horse race, and in all likelihood, it will be a battle between Manchester City and Liverpool and betting on either team won’t exactly make you a fortune.

Outside bets on Chelsea and maybe even Man United, with new management in place, could be worth a flutter. If you are really brave, you could throw some money at Newcastle United pulling off a truly shocking title triumph.

Other Bets

The number of betting types available when it comes to Premier League football is pretty much endless and changes depending on the bookmaker you are betting with. Ahead of any particular game, there are upwards of 80 potential markets.

Top Four Race

This market is always a strong one, and in terms of Premier League online betting, it’s a field that gets a lot of action. The reason for this is that the number of teams battling it out for a place in the top four is continually growing.

If you believe, probably quite rightly, that the top three spots will go to Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea, then it’s really a battle for fourth place. The likes of Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United are sure to feature in this race and then you have West Ham, Leicester City and perhaps even Newcastle United in the running as outside bets.

Relegation Battle

It’s very common for promoted teams to instantly suffer the ignominy of relegation, and Fulham, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest will consider survival the epitome of success in 2022/23.

Beyond these choices, you might want to consider Southampton, Leeds United and even Wolves as possible candidates.

Top-Scorer

The Golden Boot is always a close-run thing, and there’s a lot of betting action that takes place here.

Golden Boot Previous Winners

Here you can choose to back one of the favourites, and new Man City man Erling Haaland would be a tempting option. Or you could cast the net wider. For example, 2019-20 winner Jamie Vardy is available at around 33/1.

Premier League Sack Race

The competitive nature of the Premier League is such that just keeping your job is a challenging task and many bookmakers offer odds on which manager will be sacked first. It’s termed the Premier League sack race, and the current favourite is Everton’s Frank Lampard, who would be a decent bet to back at 7/2.

Premier League History

While the English football top tier has existed since 1888, it’s become an unstoppable force ever since it became the Premier League back in 1992. The formation of the Premier League was initially railed against by many for a number of genuine and differing reasons but has matured into an attraction with a global reach.

Backed by TV coverage, initially solely from Sky Television, the league was an economic phenomenon from the outset, and the break away from The Football Association proved an unquestionable success.

In a nutshell, the creation of the league was led by the clubs in the upper echelon of the top level of English football as they sought to secure a bigger slice of the revenue it generated rather than seeing large amounts trickle down to lower leagues.

Traditionalists weren’t happy with the development of the Premier League, but after the High Court decided that they were powerless to step in to stop its formation, the stage was set for a bright and bold new era in English football.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s Man United dominated the English football landscape in the early years following the creation of the Premier League, the Scot leading his Old Trafford side to the title in seven of the first nine seasons following its inception.

Arsene Wenger offered some resistance to the tide, and in 2003/04, his Arsenal side completed a title success without losing a game, leading to that side being dubbed ‘The Invincibles’.

Roman Abramovich financed Chelsea’s pursuit of a first Premier League title, and under Jose Mourinho, they entered the title party by winning back-to-back titles in 2005 and 2006, but once again, Manchester United returned to the top of the tree.

When Sir Alex retired from the game, Man United dropped off the pace, and their near-neighbours became regular title challengers accordingly.

Leicester City secured a miraculous title win under Claudio Ranieri, a feat that could arguably be considered the biggest bet on the Premier League for any lucky punter would have made prior to the 2015/16 getting underway.

Jurgen Klopp helped Liverpool to their first English championship in over 30 years in 2019/20, and now his Anfield side is pretty much neck and neck with Pep Guardiola’s Man City in the race for the 2022/23 title.

Premier League Team Guides 2022/23

When it comes to placing your Premier League bets, it’s a good idea to know what teams are worthy of your attention. Below are some brief guides to each of the 20 teams taking part in the 2022/23 Premier League season, along with the odds of winning the title.

Arsenal (66/1)

Arsenal are very much a team in transition, but under Mikel Arteta, things have started to look up for the North London side. They finished just shy of a top-four finish in 2021/22 and have already brought in a potentially great signing in the form of Fabio Vieira, and it appears Gabriel Jesus and Raphina may also follow the Portuguese youngster to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

We’d back them to make a strong run into the Champions League places in 2022/23.

Aston Villa (300/1)

Steven Gerrard’s task to make Aston Villa a Premier League force isn’t going to be an easy one, and how much he has to invest in his Villa Park squad will dictate just what the former Rangers boss can achieve this season. The Midlands club have decent youngsters coming through, like Jacob Ramsey, and if they can sign a few good additions, then they should be able to aim for more than mid-table mediocrity.

It might be too soon for Gerrard to really work his magic, and we predict a finish somewhere between 8th and 10th.

Bournemouth (2000/1)

Any team that gets promoted into the Premier League tends to struggle, and Bournemouth are a team that has regularly punched above their weight. In their last stint in the Premier League, they did very well under Eddie Howe and Scott Parker will look to replicate that form, but it will be a struggle to retain their place in the top tier.

Straight back down to the Championship and a team that should be among your Premier League relegation bets.

Brentford (1000/1)

Thomas Frank worked his magic to steer Brentford to a very healthy 13th place finish, and a big reason for such a finish was the late-season acquisition of Christian Eriksen; and if they can retain the Danish playmaker for 2022/23, then we’d say they are a good bet to push onwards and upwards.

No second season syndrome for the Bees; they’ll be some way from the drop zone by the end of May.

Brighton & Hove Albion (300/1)

In Graham Potter, Brighton have one of the brightest young English managers in the game, and they finished last season very strongly indeed. Five wins and three draws in their final eight games helped the Seagulls to finish ninth, the club’s highest-ever finish in the top flight.

Next season should be more of the same, but they do lack goals, and Potter would do well to sign a proven finisher over the summer.

Chelsea (18/1)

When Chelsea have an average season, and that would be a fair assessment of 2021/22, they tend to spend big to compensate. Under new ownership, the Blues are likely to splash the cash, and Thomas Tuchel could do with freshening up his squad, and if he spends well, then the Stamford Bridge side can make a genuine Premier League title push.

Moves to bring in Raheem Sterling could certainly help Chelsea in 2022/23, and if they invest well, they could make a dent in the title race.

Crystal Palace (500/1)

Patrick Vieira enjoyed a solid first season at Selhurst Park, and the Eagles’ 12th-place finish is perhaps not a fair reflection on just how much the former Arsenal legend achieved. Palace have a decent squad but lack strength in depth. If they can spend well and keep hold of their best players, Wilfried Zaha in particular, then 2022/23 should be a decent season for the South London outfit.

2022/23 will see Crystal Palace way off the relegation zone, but it’s unclear whether they can push much further than the fringes of the top half of the Premier League table.

Everton (750/1)

Everton brought in Frank Lampard last January but would undoubtedly have expected more from the high-profile appointment than a narrow relegation escape. In all honesty, though Lampard was a world-class player, his managerial efforts haven’t been anywhere near as impressive. He’ll get money to spend, but who he attracts will impact on just what the Goodison Park side can expect.

A season of transition awaits, and nothing more than a bottom half of the table finish seems likely at this point, especially if Richarlison is sold.

Fulham (1000/1)

The Cottagers are very much a yo-yo team, having suffered relegation from the Premier League in 2018/19 and 2020/21, and Marco Silva has his work cut out if he wants to keep his team in the top-flight. He’s already seen impressive teenager Fabio Carvalho leave for Liverpool, and a lot depends on how effective Aleksandar Mitrovic can be at the highest level.

We don’t see anything other than an immediate return to the Championship.

Leeds United (750/1)

The Elland Road side chose to jettison Marcelo Bielsa in late February and new manager Jesse Marsch only just kept Leeds United from relegation, but it’s unclear whether he’ll be able to effectively make an impact at the club. The American coach is relatively unproven, and if he loses players of the quality of Raphina and Kalvin Phillips, then it could be a long, arduous season for the club.

We’d back Leeds to stay up but only just.

Leicester City (250/1)

The Foxes have enjoyed an extended period of relative success. Winning the Premier League 2015/16 and then following that up with an FA Cup triumph were milestones beyond the club’s fans’ wildest dreams. Now they are in something of a sticky place. They finished last season in mid-table, and efforts to move higher will depend on whether they can retain their best players.

If Brendan Rodgers loses players of the quality of Youri Tielemans or James Maddison, then Leicester City may fall away a tad. We predict a bottom half of the table finish.

Liverpool (9/4)

The points tally secured by Liverpool last season, 92, would have been comfortably enough to win the title in most years, but they were outpaced by a brilliant Man City team. Jurgen Klopp came very close to securing an unprecedented quadruple but staying at that level next season may be challenging. Sadio Mane has left, and if Mohamed Salah doesn’t sign a new deal, then it could impact on his performances in what would be the final year of his contract.

It’s another second-place finish for Liverpool in 2022/23 for us.

Manchester City (4/7)

The quality in Pep Guardiola’s squad is quite frankly scary. Their second XI would probably secure a top-four finish, and the addition of Erling Haaland will be the icing on the cake for the Etihad Stadium side. Having won back-to-back Premier League titles, the main focus will be the Champions League, but that doesn’t mean they won’t push for a third successive championship.

Man City will romp to success, and we think they may even set a new points record when doing so. There will be no stopping the Guardiola-juggernaut in 2022/23.

Manchester United (40/1)

Last season was a disaster. The 58-point haul is the lowest Premier League total Man United have achieved, and the end-of-season thrashing at Brighton was the point where things could get no worse. Erik ten Hag has come in, and the former Ajax man looks like the right man to finally get the Old Trafford side moving in the right direction. The process of getting rid of the deadwood, such as Paul Pogba, is already underway, and we think the coming season will be a refreshingly promising one for Man United.

A fourth-place finish is on the cards but will be dependent on a good summer in the transfer market. Signing Frenkie de Jong would be a good start.

Newcastle United (100/1)

Eddie Howe, with the help of wise signings, steered the St James’ Park ship into calm waters after a horrendous start to last season, and we predict a real push up the table for the Toon Army in 2022/23. Newcastle United have a big transfer kitty, and if they bring in sensible additions, and not just those that catch the headlines, then things will be very rosy indeed.

Newcastle United will secure European football with their Premier League finish in 2022/23.

Nottingham Forest (1500/1)

In many ways, Nottingham Forest’s return to the top tier, though a refreshing accomplishment, may have come a season or two too soon. Steve Cooper performed nothing short of a miracle as he led the City Ground side back to the top tier for the first time since 1999, but his squad isn’t currently likely to be strong enough to stay in the Premier League for more than this season.

Even if Forest spend well, it would be a massive surprise if they didn’t suffer an immediate return to the Championship.

Southampton (750/1)

There are a number of teams that have performed beyond the levels one would expect of the squads that they have assembled, and up to now, Southampton would fall into this particular camp, and a lot of that is down to the man-management skills of Saints coach Ralph Hasenhüttl. This season will be a tough one for the South-Coast outfit, and they may well be fighting for the Premier League status they’ve held since 2012.

Simply put, if Southampton lose captain James Ward-Prowse, who is being courted by a number of Premier League teams, then the Saints could well get themselves relegated.

Tottenham (16/1)

Antonio Conte’s appointment proved a massive success. The Italian came in when the North London side were ninth in the table, and by the end of the season, the former Juventus and Chelsea coach had booked a spot in the Champions League places. That finish will keep star striker Harry Kane happy and give the club money to invest in the squad so that Conte can put his stamp on the club.

Battle for fourth or even third may be on the cards, depending on who Conte signs.

West Ham United (200/1)

Having secured sixth and seventh place finishes in the past two seasons, David Moyes may have to rein in expectations of keeping West Ham in or around the same strata in 2022/23, and that’s down to a number of factors. Teams around the Hammers will invest big, and the East London side may struggle to keep hold of their star talents.

If Declan Rice is lured away, or indeed Jarrod Bowen, then West Ham will drop outside the top ten.

Wolves (500/1)

Goals have been an issue at Wolves for a few seasons. Far too much has been expected of Raul Jiminez in that department, but investment is needed in order to boost the attacking options available to Bruno Lage. The Molineux side managed just 38 Premier League goals last season, while their defence is very solid in contrast to their poor forward line.

7th, 7th, 13th and 10th have been the end-of-season finishes for Wolves since their return to the top flight. In 2022/23, they’ll find themselves far nearer the drop zone.

Premier League Players to Watch

The Premier League attracts the best in the game, and that means that the English top tier is stuffed with talents that make the league what it is. These players should form part of your betting strategy. For instance, if a team’s star player is out with a long-term injury, then you might want to consider ruling out a bet on their potential success.

Similarly, the quality of new signings has a massive impact on how a team may fare during the season. The players on display, watched by an audience of billions, are the bedrock of the Premier League and should therefore form a crucial part of your betting activity.

Let’s take a closer look at the players to watch in 2022/23.

World Beaters and Established Stars

Clearly, the lion’s share of the top talents ply their trade with those teams at the top end of the table, and you can expect the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Mohamed Salah, Harry Kane and Cristiano Ronaldo to make an impact in 2022/23.

It’s likely that a number of new names will be snapped up by the top sides in the Premier League as they look to strengthen their squads ahead of the new season, so keep an eye out on who comes in and who leaves for pastures new. These factors will be critical to all the England Premier League betting lines.

Young Upcoming Talents

As well as the more experienced Premier League stars, there are a raft of young stars who are already regularly displaying their talents. Man City’s Phil Foden, Arsenal attacker Bukayo Saka and Chelsea playmaker Mason Mount are three England stars who are consistent performers at the highest level.

Premier League New Boys

In 2022/23, Fulham, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest join the big boys, and while each of this trio will struggle to retain their Premier League status, if they do so, it will be down, in no small way, to the way their most effective players perform. For Fulham, a lot will be expected of Alexandar Mitrovic (who bagged an astonishing 43 Championship goals last season); at Bournemouth, they’ll look to keeper Mark Travers to keep the opposition at bay, and Forest will look to young Welsh forward Brennan Johnson to provide a cutting edge in the final third.
